Roku Smart Home Subscription is not required to use the basic functions of your Roku cameras or video doorbells. You can pull up a live feed on the Roku Smart Home mobile app from anywhere and get motion and sound alerts to your phone. However, without a subscription, you’ll only get still photos of the event. If you’d like to access enhanced features like event recording, a subscription is required. With a subscription, you unlock cloud recording and 14-day storage in addition to smart detection that lets you filter events by person, pet, package or car.

Do I need a subscription to use my Roku Home Monitoring System?

You do not need a subscription to use your Roku Home Monitoring System SE if you plan to self-monitor your home. You’ll get notifications for entry and motion alerts to your phone, and the alarm will sound when your system is armed, but an alarm will not contact an agent or escalate an emergency. In case of a true emergency, you’ll have to contact the authorities yourself.

The benefit of a Pro Monitoring Subscription powered by Noonlight is the peace of mind from knowing live agents are looking out for you and your family 24/7. If the worst-case scenario happens, an agent will text you to assess the situation and request emergency assistance on your behalf.
